Working with your physio and other specialists

Charles works alongside physiotherapists, including the Kieser physiotherapist who consults at Entity Medical on select days. When an injury needs it, he refers to sport and exercise physicians, orthopaedic surgeons and other specialists.

A GP or a sport and exercise physician?

Charles is a GP (FRACGP) with postgraduate training in sports medicine. Sport and exercise physicians are a separate medical specialty, and you need a referral to claim Medicare rebates when you see one.

For most sports injuries, a GP is a good place to start. You don't need a referral, and Charles can refer you on if your injury needs a sport and exercise physician.
